The mission of the Alaska Earthquake Information Center AEIC is to rapidly determine location and size of earthquakes in the State of Alaska and to disseminate this information to the State and Federal agencies, scientists, and the general public. The realtime earthquake locations and magnitudes are determined within 5 minutes of the event occurence. Significant events are reviewed by the AEIC seismologist on duty within 30 minutes of the occurrence.
